Program

We are delighted to announce that Janis Thomas, of Winchester, was crowned Ms. Virginia Senior America 2015 at the coronation event in Staunton, Virginia, on May 20, 2015. Ms. Thomas is a life-long dancer and will dance again to the jazzy rhythms of ’Steam Heat’, her very first recital dance of 41 years ago, at this year’s National competition. Ms. Thomas was first runner-up in the 2014 Virginia contest.

The Ms. Virginia Senior American Pageant program’s mission is to search for and publicly honor accomplished Virginia women age sixty or “better,” with focus on accomplishment, talent, maturity and inner beauty, through an annual state competition leading to the national pageant each fall.

The pageant program seeks to draw attention to the achievements of senior women and provides women the opportunity to share their life experiences and talent, create new friendships and continue purpose driven lives. Our participants represent a cross section of our society.

Each year, state-wide press announcements give interested women an opportunity to attend pre-pageant orientations for information about the competition and to hear how pageant participation has made a difference in previous contestants’ lives.

Orientations and pageant locations vary throughout Virginia.
